Hello 2016! It's hard to think that we're already nine days into the new year! The last week has completely flown by. I hope all of you had a great first week of 2016. Mine was pretty good. I'll admit I haven't done much though because I've been stuck at home sick with no vehicle to go about in!
New Year's Eve was quaint. I had the idea of filling a bunch of balloons with confetti and popping them when midnight came!
This stuff made quite a mess!
I filled ten balloons them stored them in garbage bags out of harms reach from the cat. He loves sticking his claws into everything...
One little balloon didn't make it until midnight :(
My family and I spent most of the evening watching NCIS. Around 9ish Ryan came over and we switched gears. He and I went out to get ice cream and cough syrup and my family put on the New Year's Eve music performance in New York.
I took cough medicine to make the evening more bearable but after that Ryan kept having to keep me awake because it made me tired! We chatted about possible resolutions for the year and kept entertained online and with the music performances.
Then at midnight I popped the balloons! It was a blast! :P
We tried to contain it in an empty doorway but the confetti went far and wide! It even stuck to the wall and part of the ceiling!! I was covered as well, especially my hair!
The following week I was stuck at home for the most part, but did get out occasionally. Ryan and I watched our first movie of the new year: Wreck-It Ralph. I absolutely love that movie!!
Sunday night I also watched part of the Packer game with my dad. He lent me and my sister some jerseys to get us in the spirit because neither of us are super football fans. He had to continually tell us when to cheer and boo at the game, and ended up turning it off halfway through the third quarter because they weren't playing well at all.
I also picked up new supplies for the upcoming semester. I have way more classes scheduled for the spring and decided to modify my organization system. I've switched to notebooks from binders to keep notes in. Binders were okay but notebooks are way more portable!
Found these gems at Walmart for 75 cents a piece!
I love pretty school supplies :)
I also reviewed my entire first semester of anatomy. Since it's part of my core education for my degree I can't forget it!
Then my pups kept me company while I watched a bajillion episodes of Raising Hope on Netflix. In the background you can see our lovely home mid thousands of art projects!
I got to meet up with my previous boss and go out for Mexican food. It was great to catch up and after that we went back to her place to watch cheesy old movies. We watched "Without Warning" and "Desperate Lives". The acting was terrible in both of them!!
She still had her Christmas tree up. It was decorated with pink, blue, and green bulbs and pictures of her dogs and a diet coke ornament. I loved it!!! I also got to see her miniature poodles Cricket and Georgia again. Such cuties!
The day after that I got to eat Mexican food again! I met up with a high school friend to go to lunch and then bum around at Walmart. Just like old times. I have a bad habit of collecting paint swatches for absolutely no reason. I'm just attracted to the pretty colors. That day I went home with 23 swatches, just because...we also found a dead pheasant lying in the snowbank in the parking lot. How odd!
I also went to the dentist and found out I have to have my wisdom teeth removed. Unfortunately the oral surgeon is packed all January so I'll probably have to get them taken out over spring break. Yippee.
More cute dog photos! I've watched so much Raising Hope the last week its ridiculous!
Yesterday I was feeling very sluggish from not getting out a lot all week so I spent most of the day cleaning and organizing our house. When my family all got home I picked up Papa Murphy's and we spent the evening watching NCIS.
It was a nice first week of the new year! More productive adventures to come though!
Hi my name is Emilee and these are my adventures as a young adult living in Milwaukee. Here I will share my experiences as I navigate through college. Thanks for stopping by!
