Before this post continues, here is a photo of my dogs because I think they are cute!
My boyfriend and I were invited to view a private showing of a silent film he had participated in. We turned it into a date night and went to dinner at The Laughing Trout, one of our town's fanciest restaurants!
We decided to split an appetizer and a meal to save on cost and prevent overeating. My boyfriend was in a cheese mood so we ordered cheese curds to start and five cheese macaroni for the meal.
So suave. Even the lamps were fancy!
They gave us raisin scones as a complementary appetizer. They had a different consistency than any other kind of scones I've tried before. On the side we were given flavored whipped butter, and even though I ate most of it trying to figure it out, I could not decide what that flavor was!
Shortly after that our cheese curds arrived! They were skewered and stack on top of each other and alternated between white and yellow cheese (even being from Wisconsin I can only identify most cheese by color).
Then our expensive plate of macaroni and cheese arrived! The plate had a dip in the center so there was more food than the photo lets on. It was a very gourmet way of making macaroni and I wish I had better taste buds so I could try and replicate the recipe myself! I'll still give it a shot some time though.
After dinner we drove to the town where the movie was being shown. The gathering was held in a bank. Inside we talked to the people involved with the actual production of the movie for a short while, but after that events were called to order. We sat through a brief meeting and then the filmmaker gave us an interesting history about silent films. After that the movie was played. And it was beautiful.
Due to it being a private showing I really discuss much of what happened. However, one of my boyfriend's roles required him to wear a dress which was a hoot to see! After the film there was a tiny reception with cookies and punch and then we headed for home.
The clouds on the road back looked super awesome.
