I had a super-long mini break over the last week! I just really wanted to get away from technology and spend time reading and being in the company of others! Here's my recap from the 4th of July:
We let the dogs stay outside all day and enjoy the niceness of the weather before they had to be put in their crate and covered with blankets while being terrified out of their minds during the fireworks. This is a big issue for us since we live only about three blocks away from the park where our town does them!
Buzz took a liking to the swings while Rusty sniffed the backyard in search of bunnies. Thankfully his search was unsuccessful!
My family sat around the fire pit and updated the others on their lives and asked my boyfriend questions about what his future plans are. We dined on grilled barbecue chicken on a stick, grilled vegetables, fruit salad, and miniature red, white, and blue cupcakes!
After eating relatives broke off into smaller groups (it's typically separated men and women, who use the time to gossip about their significant others!) My boyfriend and I avoided the chitty-chat and sat on the front porch to talk about things more relevant to our own lives.
Once it started to get dark we got our chairs and snacks together and walked to the park. It was a popular place! Me and my boyfriend walked about to grab a bag of popcorn and look for people we knew while my relatives set up camp on the hill. All around people were playing with glowsticks and participating in games!
The sky eventually got dark enough for the fireworks to start! Because my boyfriend has awesome camera skills we got some pretty neat photos. Leaving the shutter open for a long time led to some interesting shots! Here are some of my favorites:
This one reminds me of palm trees.
Whoa....dude...looks like jellyfish tentacles!!
Due to the wide variety of photos, we decided to have a Photoshop challenge! We could pick any of the photos we like and had to turn them into something awesome before a set due date, on which we would share them with each other and try to pick the best! Happy 4th :)
