This morning started off with a run through Twining Park. Although the morning was beautiful I felt like I was dying because of all the hills and running through grass. I felt great at the end though :)
We parted ways until 9:30. In that time I worked on writing thank you cards to those who came to my graduation party. We met up again and grabbed a Coconut Haystack latte for the road.
While on the way up to Madison to go clothes shopping, my boyfriend saw the sign advertising Cave of the Mounds and insisted we go there first! So we did!!
We went on the 10:45 tour. After a short informational video on how the cave was found we headed down into its depths!
The temperature inside the cave is about 50 degrees fahrenheit!
Our tour guide told us the veins on the cave roof reminded him of bacon!
The cave was very beautiful and mysterious!
Apparently this cave is used for some kind of military training. The members come in and crawl and run through the tunnels. Because the cave is living, they have to wear protective gear to prevent body oils from getting on the rocks and killing them!
I haven't been to too many natural landmarks, but this was the best one so far!!
To finish off an already wonderful day, my family had a campfire that lasted late into the evening :)
Hi my name is Emilee and I am a kinesiology undergraduate student. These are my adventures as a young adult living in Milwaukee. Here I will share my experiences as I navigate through college. Thanks for stopping by!
