On Saturday, October 10 I ran my very first 5k! I haven't been training super hard for it, but I was able to run the entire way! My average mile time was 10:43, quite a bit lower than the pace I ran while preparing for the event!
The course was very pretty. We walked it before hand and took this picture of the park it went through.
After the run Ryan and I met up with some other friends who ran to congratulate everyone on finishing. Then we stretched and looked through some of the athletic vendors at the finish line.
For lunch we went to the Gasthaus and ordered burgers and fries (so healthy) so we could get some energy for the day's next adventure: Discovery World!
This place is super amazing! It showcases and (more importantly) explains all different kinds of technology and scientific processes!
Moving on to the water exhibit- a giant model of the great lakes!
Then we visited the aquarium. I took so many fish photos because they all look awesome!
Check out these funny guys!
Then we moved to the second floor and walked around inside this giant suspended boat!
After that were the clean water and air exhibits. We spent a very long time in this area. It was very informative and enlightening!
We got to take a tour of the solar system inside a virtual theater place called The Hive. It was very cool but made me a little dizzy because it felt kind of like we were floating in space!
Towards the end of our visit we found a station that personified all the elements! These two were my favorite:
After the elements we walked through the music and sound areas. We discovered an interactive table that had blocks that you could place on it to produce instrument sounds and effects! We stayed at that spot so long that eventually an employee had to come up and tell us they were closed!
To end a wonderful day we went to Chipotle for dinner. I thought it was fantastic and it really satisfied my craving for Mexican food (which is basically always, but since the cafeteria rarely has any I'm super happy when I get some)!
