I have fallen in love with English muffins! I ate the last one in the package and that was all it took! Since then I have been craving them like crazy but unfortunately am having a hard time chewing because I got my wisdom teeth removed this week!
My first full day at home was super relaxing. I ate a great, non-cafeteria food breakfast and got to socialize with my aunt who was visiting. Then I put away all the things I cleaned out of my dorm room in preparation for my big move out at the end of the school year. I also cleaned and vacuumed my bedroom and did two loads of laundry!
Around noon I took the doggies out for a walk. I'll admit it's not an easy thing to do. Buzz, who is the younger of the two, absolutely loves going for walks and pulls at the end of the leash the entire time, practically choking himself. Rusty, who is the ripe old age of 14, totters along at the end of his leash behind you. So when you take them for a walk with just one person your arms are at opposite ends and its rather difficult!
I kind of remedied the situation by wrapping both of their leashes around one hand. That at least kept them a little closer together! I let them take a break at a park we came across, and Rusty was very glad to sit for awhile. Buzz, however, was readying to go again after about 10 seconds.
We took the same path back to get home. I think Rusty smelled himself and knew we were going back because he actually started trotting up by Buzz! Their little legs are so cute!
The majestic dachshund ears flapping in the wind...
Both dogs were so happy to get out that they followed me back to my bedroom when I worked out! Their smiles make me smile.
Then Buzz took a nap on my yoga mat. He looks like such a sausage in this photo!
I did a body weight leg workout with a dumbbell arm workout. I didn't stop in between moves so I felt pretty sore by the end of 20 minutes. I love short, intense workouts!
Leg workout: 20 lunges, 10 side lunges, 20 inner thigh lifts, 10 glute kickbacks, 30 sideways scissors, 10 plie squats, 20 inner thigh lifts, 20 side lunges, 10 standing side leg lifts, 30 sec wall sit, 30 fire hydrants, 10 plie squats, 30 side lunges, 10 standing leg lifts, 10 fire hydrants, and 20 plie squats.
Arm workout: 30 tricep kickbacks, 30 bicep curls, 30 push presses, 30 lying tricep extensions, 30 hammer curls, 30 lateral raises, 30 front raises, and 30 shoulder presses.
After a shower I cooked a sweet potato on the stove. I wasn't really sure how to cook it, so I just kept the heat high and threw water in it occasionally and it cooked in about seven minutes! Then I added some brown sugar because that stuff is good.
In the afternoon, my sister and I watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. That is one of my all-time favorite movies! Then we went to the library to check out some more movies for the following week. I got to see some of my past coworkers and it was fantastic! I really miss them.
Once everyone else was home, we ordered Jimmy Johns and watched NCIS for the remainder of the evening. I missed nearly two seasons when I went back to school, but thankfully for the most part that show can just be picked up wherever!
Sunday morning my mom made coffee in her French Roast Press and it was amazing. My dad ordered coffee beans from San Francisco from a guy who makes all his own blends. Then we went grocery shopping as a family and I stocked up on different flavors of applesauce and pudding.
A beautiful lunch plate (not healthy but very pretty).
Later in the day, my sister and I went to my aunt and uncle's to pick up some fundraiser money. We stayed awhile to catch up and also to play with their over-sized goldendoodle puppy. She lost her ball under a blanket and got all wrapped up trying to find it!
They had the Food Network on and I became very engrossed with a cook off show with Bobby Flay. When I got home I checked Netflix, but one of the only cooking shows they had was Chopped. I decided to start watching it and became inspired to learn how to cook better! I'm adding that to my growing summer bucket list.
Monday morning, the first official day of spring break, I had my wisdom teeth removed.
I was very nervous because I've never had any kind of surgery before, but after they stuck an IV in my arm I became super relaxed and then fell asleep. I woke up in another room merely 20 minutes later and it was all done! My chin and tongue were completely asleep so my face felt really puffy even though it wasn't yet.
I spent most of Monday sleeping and half paying attention to Chopped running on the TV. Buzz really wanted to sit with me even though I couldn't let him. He kept jumping up in a "let me love you!" kind of way. Also, since I couldn't feel my face I ended up spilling soup all over and making a mess without even knowing it! Oops!
On Tuesday, Ryan came to visit me and surprised me with a video game called Stardew Valley. It's essentially a cross between Harvest Moon, Rune Factory, and a tiny bit of Animal Crossing. Although at first I thought it was way too similar, it's really grown on me and I've become a bit addicted. We used an HDMI cable to connect my laptop to the TV and play on the big screen. It was an entertaining afternoon!
My tamagotchi also managed to survive. It turned into an adult character that reminds me of a cross between a caterpillar and a bumble bee! Once my family came home we all watched some more NCIS and I finally let the dogs up to sit with me.
Wednesday was my last "official" recovery day. I spent it like a cross between Monday and Tuesday. I was a little more mobile around the house and actually did some chores to thank my mom for being very attentive the last two days.
In the evening I felt good enough to make my first venture back into the real world. I went out with my dad to pick up some Chinese food. I went to the restaurant with a puffy face and wearing my rainbow leopard pajamas! Luckily I didn't see anyone I recognized there.
The woman at the counter was ringing up our order and out of the blue asked us why we didn't order green beans this time. It was hard not to crack up because every single time we order Chinese takeout from this place she asks us the same question, but we have never ordered green beans!
So that's how I started my spring break! It wasn't super ideal but I still got things out of it! The rest has thankfully been more eventful. Have a great weekend! :)
