I made my very first pair of jean shorts today, and here's how I did it!
Start with a pair of jeans that doesn't fit well.
Next, turn them inside out and fold the legs together.
Lay a nice fitting pair of shorts over the jeans (I used my green ones) and then, using the shorts as a guide, cut of the legs of your jeans! Then use the blade of the scissors to fray the ends.
And if you're lucky like me, you might find two dollars in one of your pockets! Now I'm rich!!
If you want you can take a cheese grater to your shorts to make them even more "distressed". Just be sure to dodge watchful mothers who think it's weird to take cheese graters into your bedroom...
Next I mixed two parts water with one part bleach and dunked my shorts in!
Check on them every fifteen minutes or so until you like the way the bleach looks. Or, if you're like me, you'll forget you put them there for five hours until your mother peeks out the window and asks, 'what's on the porch?' Oops.
Here's how the bleach turned out! Me views:
Later I went back and trimmed some of the fringies off so the shorts looked tidier. The bleach got a little funky up at the top, but I still like the way they turned out! :)
