Wednesday was jam-packed with activities! First thing in the morning my school had a day of community service, followed by a cookout, lip-dup video filming, and then a cooking competition!
This morning I laced up some hiking boots because my friends and I decided to clean up trash along a local bike trail.
My sister and I drove the school late at 8:50, then had to go back home because I left all my ingredients for the cooking competition! Silly brain!
We were given neon orange shirts at the door before being ushered into the gym to listen to an awesome man give us a pep talk about teamwork and the importance of community service. Then we headed out to do our activities!
My group got put on a bus with about 60 other people. School bus capacities are for grade school butts, not high schoolers, so it was jam packed! My seat had four people sitting in it! I sat on my friends lap in order to fit!
Then the bus dropped us off at the trail and we got to work. We filled about 6 bags full of trash, the most commonly found item being cigarette butts. There were all sorts of random things abandoned on the trail!
Here's me and my bestie:
We walked 21,000 steps between the trail and walking back to school!
When we returned we attended a mandatory school cook-out, which actually took place indoors (they cooked outside then brought it in). Teachers guarded every exit in case students tried to sneak out. It felt strangely prison like. We had just gotten back from cleaning up garbage in our neon orange and were being locked inside the cafeteria!
After they released us we prepared for our lip-dub. The songs on our list were "Party in the USA", "Respect", an intense instrumental, and "Shake it Off". I signed up to be in the theater group and my friend and I glittered a poster to represent the theater crew.
After the singing teacher went by we all raced to the bleachers out by the football field for the big finale! When the camera guy reached the field everyone cheered, jumped, sprayed silly strings, and threw balls onto the field.
I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done!
Around 2ish my friend and I went to the cooking room for the cooking competition. We were competing against three other teams to impress the teacher-judge panel. My goal was to take a bunch of progress pictures, but we were so busy I didn't have time!
We made cinnamon rolls with glaze, apple roll-ups, and a smoothie to go with our breakfast theme. The judges were really impressed with the cinnamon rolls and we were given an oven mitt full of spatulas as a prize!
I did take a couple pictures of the leftover food, but they're not super vogue or anything. My boyfriend and I are making them again on Sunday so I'll post the recipe then!
Here is our spatula mitt prize! Since there were only three of us, I inherited two spatulas and the mitt!
Once the school day was over I went to a job interview for a possible second summer job then chilled at home until my school's scholarship award ceremony in the evening. I won two scholarships and am very thankful and happy for both! They will help so much in the fall!
It was a very busy but fulfilling day!
