Today was a superbly busy day! My mom, sister, and I had a girls only shopping day in Madison to buy school supplies, clothes, and dorm items. We turned up mom's dance party playlist in the car and were on our merry way!
We stopped at the amazing Fat Cat Coffee Works in New Glarus. As we approached it I kept telling my mom how good it was until she agreed to stop and try it as well! I had an Irish Cream latte with almond milk and my sister had a mocha. We were all pleased with our choices and my mom really enjoyed how all the lamps in the cafe were made out of old teapots. Once I'm in college I'll have to plan trips here during my breaks because it's too good to never have again!
Once we got up to Madison we went to sooooo many stores. We went to Bed Bath & Beyond, Burlington Coat Factory, Plato's Closet, Cost Co, K Mart, Wal-Mart, and Jo Ann Fabrics, just to name a few! It's kind of funny because we only bought things from a few of them.
My sister and I had a blast taking photos wearing really unflattering rompers at Burlington. They look so cool until you actually put them on!
When we were leaving Bed Bath & Beyond I saw something that made me very happy: a phone box!
Even though it looked absolutely nothing like the Tardis I still had to have my picture taken in it!
When lunch time came around we decided on a restaurant called Sa-Bai Thong.
It's a very cute little restaurant hidden in the corner of a strip mall!
Each of our meals came with side salads. I'd never thought about putting crushed peanuts on salad until now! It was pretty good and I'm going to try it again on my own some time.
We also shared an appetizer of potstickers. I've had those twice in the last week now! They came with sweet & sour and soy sauce.
Super gourmet-vogue food photo! :P
For my main meal I ordered Mus-Mun Curry, which had all sorts of ingredients that didn't sound like they fit together yet somehow worked perfectly! This assortment included curry sauce, cinnamon, onion, coriander, anise, cumin, potatoes, chopped apples, peanuts, tofu, and cilantro (source = menu).
Someday (I really need to make a "someday" list) I'm going to try to recreate it myself. This will be difficult because I don't have access to a kitchen in my dorm, but I will find a way!!
We got a lot of big dorm room items crossed off my list today. Things like a water filter, bedding, food supplies, electrical necessities, office supplies, and such. There is more to get, but we'll save that for another day!
After we returned home I got things put away and went to work for a couple hours. When my boyfriend picked me up afterwards he had a surprise: he wanted to go to dinner at an Italian restaurant in Platteville! Even though I had already eaten out today I decided, hey, why not?
Back on the road!
The restaurant was called Benvenuto's and had amazing blue raspberry lemonade.
For the meal we shared Caesar salad and some really good pasta with huge honking meatballs! Do you see those meatballs in the photo on the right? They were about the size of my fist!! Holy zoinks!
If that wasn't enough food, we also ordered a cookie in a pan topped with ice cream and chocolate drizzle. It was so yummy and we finished all of it even though our stomachs were like "we're so full!"
After dinner (which got done super late at 9:30pm!) we drove back to town and parked the car outside and laid in the back so we could watch a meteor shower. It was really gorgeous and I got to wish upon twelve different shooting stars. It was a beautiful day :)
