The next morning I was up at the crack of dawn. It was my first day of college orientation! I was super excited to be up and moving, but it took everyone else almost two hours to get ready! By that time I was starving, and it took us nearly a half hour of driving around before we finally located a Denny's. Turns out they are everywhere, but we managed to look in all the wrong places! That didn't get me down though! Once I had some coffee and food in me I was set to go! :)
After breakfast we drove around and saw some more sights. Since we had to stay in the car, however, I was unable to take good photos. They were all blurry! We drove along the lake beach path and through the wealthy Shorewood neighborhood, wondering what it would be like to live in a multimillion dollar home! Car selfie with my awesome new shades :D
At 12:30 my family dropped me off at the Union Center. We said our goodbyes before I was directed towards a big presentation room for the start of my two day orientation.
At orientation they gave us a ton of information! We started off by going into a long room with specialty booths that could answer questions about finances, food, housing, safety, and student organizations. Then, since this was a special orientation for honors students, they told us about the perks of being in the honors college. From there we were shuffled from room-to-room, building-to-building and were given more chunks of information. The presentations lasted so long we didn't have to time explore the campus!
After a lovely dinner and herb-breaded chicken, fruit, carbonated water we got to watch the orientation leaders perform skits. They were about how to make the adjustment to college life and not get into trouble, along with a lip sync battle inspired by the Jimmy Fallon show!
That night the school hosted a dance party in one of the dorms. As much as the orientation leaders tried, they could not get anyone to dance! The party lasted an hour and a half, and no one danced until the last half hour!
The following morning was bright and sunny. After a muffin and cup of coffee, they rewelcomed us to campus before sending us off for specialty presentations specific to the sub-college we were in. I'm going into the college of health sciences!
Following the presentation we signed up for classes. I don't have any on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! Woohoo!! Afterwards they took us back to the Union to pick up our IDs and luggage, then got us checked out. My family came and got me and then we headed back to Monroe. It was definitely an eye-opening two days! :)
