Well, not quite yet. Once this post is done it will be! I haven't posted anything the last few weeks for two reasons. One: Weebly seemed to be down whenever I had free time, and two: I moved to Milwaukee!!!! Holy moly!!!! I'm out in the real world like an adult!
More about that later though, because I need to recap the last two weeks in my hometown because I had a pleasant time. I had too many photos so I made them all into collages.
Mother Daughter Date: My mom, sister, and I went to the grocery store to get fresh ingredients to make shrimp Caesar salad. I think it was the yummiest salad of all the salads I've ever eaten before! Then we spent the afternoon watching a movie called To Wong Foo about drag queens whose car breaks down in a little town in the middle of nowhere. I rated it 5 stars; it's a must see!
Sister Date: Since my sister and I have never been to a spa we decided to have a sister's day and try it out! We started off with lunch at a popular local deli and then went to get our eyebrows waxed and fingernails manicured. I can verify that eyebrow waxing hurts like crap! My sister had her nails painted dark purple while I got lots and lots of sparkles. Afterwards we went to Culvers for some yummy lemon ice coolers. It was a very chillaxing day!
Ponchos Date: Ryan and I had a dinner date at a super-hard-to-get-into restaurant called Poncho and Lefty's. It's always jam packed because people love the food so much. We just wandered in by chance and the only seating they had was a table for two! How convenient! We shared sweet potato fries and both got a burger. I ordered the jalapeno burger because, like always, I think I can take the heat...(nope)
Dr. Whoness: My wonderful mother helped me paint the mini fridge for my dorm room and it looks fantastic! It needed a whole lot of cleaning because it sat for two years in the basement at my aunt and uncles. It was icky when it arrived in my care but now it's a beaut! Also on my last day of work at the library my coworker came to say goodbye and gave me a Doctor Who watch! It looks like a galaxy and there's a Tardis attached to the second hand so it spins around. So awesome!
This collage is almost entirely food. I love food and ate a lot of it during my last weeks in town!
Library Social: The super sweet librarians where I used to work bought me a cake for my last day! They also gave me a card with good wishes from each of them on the inside that made me tear up. The head librarian made all the others leave their desks so they could gather around the counter and watch me cut the first piece. It was so cute and I'm going to miss them all so much!
Cimmino's with the Family: On my last Friday in town my family took me to my favorite Italian restaurant in Freeport, Illinois for some noodles. We shared calamari and I had pasta with giant noodles and even larger meatballs! They had to be close to 2" in diameter! <(O.O)>
Family Fun: We had a campfire with my dad's family and our dogs. There were marshmallows, peanuts, and lots of stories to go around! Buzz and Rusty kept rotating laps while my aunt and uncle's goldendoodle Annie kept playing fetch with herself and running around the porch.
Food and Food: My mother grew some monster tomatoes in her garden! The one closest to the camera is bigger than my hand!! Composting is my theory as to how they get so big. They seem larger every year! My loving dad made pancakes (my absolute favorite breakfast food) and my mom made a super delicious fruit topping. Together it made a super vogue-worthy photograph!
Stay Warm Date: Ryan and I got together because we both wanted some pasta! It wasn't quite lunch time though so we decided to make hot chocolate (the super fancy kind you mix together on the stove!) and sit on my front porch. Despite being the end of August it was only in the low 60s. Brr! When lunch finally came around we made some alredo sauce loosely based on the Olive Garden copycat. Our trumped theirs though because we added a variety of cheese and somehow squished an entire carton of mushrooms in the saucepan!!
Tippy: There's Tippy, being cute! I'm going to miss her as much as I'm going to miss my own dogs.
My Last Day in Monroe: Most of my last day in town was spent packing. My room was all torn apart but cute little Rusty still wanted to be in there with me. He loves sleeping on soft things and the only soft thing on the floor at that time was a sweatshirt I left there. The cute little pup curled up on top and went to sleep! Ryan also stopped by for a visit. We went to Chocolate Temptations for coffee and iced tea and then to a park to swing on the swings and play in the sand. The photo makes it look like we were on a beach! When we got back we made sandwiches and used them as bait to get Buzz and Rusty to look at the camera at the same time. Then we said our farewells-until-next-times (T.T)
For dinner my parents took me to my favorite Mexican restaurant (so much food the last few days!!) and talked about last minute things and what life would be like for them without me. When we got home I still had more packing to do. Want to know why it wasn't done earlier? I found Barbie Fashion Show while sorting my belongings and just had to play it. All the way through.............but eventually the packing was done!! I totaled something like eight boxes, three bags, and bundled up yoga mats. All ready for the road the next morning.
And that's where the real adventures begin...
Hi my name is Emilee and these are my adventures as a young adult living in Milwaukee. Here I will share my experiences as I navigate through college. Thanks for stopping by!
