Today was my AP Biology class's field trip to the Milwaukee Zoo! I've been excited for this trip ever since my teacher told us about in back in September!
Because it was a special day, I wore my new shirt!
I also purchased some Luna Bars to eat on the bus ride there. I've never tried them before, but they were both very good!
I was in a super blueberry mood today so I also got blueberry muffin flavored coffee! It was some of the yummiest coffee I've ever had.
We got delayed slightly at the entrance to the zoo because the admissions person thought we were a bus full of grade schoolers....not quite lol!
Once inside the zoo, the teacher gave us our assignment sheets and off we went!
My friend and I enjoyed looking at all the birds.
While watching the penguins we observed the they can projectile poop! No lie, I saw it with my own eyes! It was really peculiar and gross...
Some of the flamingos had duct tape on their feet. We weren't quite sure what the purpose of it was, but the birds didn't seem to mind!
The big brown bear was just taking a nap...
Alpacas are some of my favorite animals!
We saw the entrance for the Sky Safari next to the alpaca exhibit. Despite being terribly afraid of heights, I decided to go on it for a new experience!
It was very scary! My friend kept making comments about how it seemed less secure than the lift at the state fair and how we were literally just being held on by a magnet!! AAaahhh!
She kept offering to hold my hand, but I refused to let go of the bars!
This was our view on the incline up.
Now that I'm sitting on the couch in the safety of my living room it doesn't look so high off the ground. At the time though it seemed sky high! Here's the view from our highest point. We were sort of hoping the see our teacher below and wave to her, but we didn't find her until after we were off the lift.
I finished my animal observation worksheet by watching an orangutan pace his cage for three minutes. He also put a cardboard box under running water and itched his butt. My observations were super scientific.
Here are some camels chilling on the ground, along with an elephant named Ruth.
We also discovered a very content, sleeping tiger! He had no care for the children peering into his cage. He was lost in dream land!
Around 1pm we met up with our class in the welcome center and reboarded the bus. My boyfriend was also in Milwaukee today looking at apartments. He wanted to try and find me at the zoo, but arrived just as we were leaving! Oh well. There will be more opportunities for duo zoo trips in the future!
When we got back to school classes weren't out, but we were dismissed for the day! We chose to hang out in our favorite teacher's room. He gave us some hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works for picking up trash on Wednesday!
After school I worked at the library, which I will be doing again tomorrow. I got home just as the pizza delivery guy was leaving, and as of right now my family is eating pizza and watching Ghost Adventures on TV.
It's a nice and quiet evening after a busy day!
Hi my name is Emilee and I am a kinesiology undergraduate student. These are my adventures as a young adult living in Milwaukee. Here I will share my experiences as I navigate through college. Thanks for stopping by!
