Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place black beans in a large mixing bowl and mash slightly with a fork. Stir in all remaining ingredients and mix until thoroughly combined.
Shape bean mixture into four large patties (about 1/2 inch thick). Arrange on a baking sheet coated in cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, flipping once halfway through.
I forgot to add the egg when I made these so the flip hallway through cooking was very rough. My mom also suggested that I put the patties in the fridge or freezer before cooking to help them stick together nicely but I did not do that either. They turned out alright in the end but I will definitely remedy these factors the next time I make them!
The second photo is a comparison between my homemade bean burger and the Morning Star bean burgers I normally eat. Mine looks so much better!
These burgers will last about a week in the fridge or a couple months in the freezer. You can customize the spices and change the flavor of cheese to suit your preference! Enjoy!
