Today I went with my mother to a place called Grandview, a Folk Art Environment located in Hollandale, Wisconsin. It was quite a sight to see!
Two of the three building were completely covered by mosaic from both colored stones and an interesting assortment of recycled items! Since my mother is a recycle artist she was asked to teach a class using old books and other objects.
In addition to the houses, there were also all kinds of mosaic statues lying about the grounds!
Here are some more closeup views of the largest house. It was very pretty, especially in person!
This is the smaller building mosaiced from recycled items.
A closer view of some of the more interesting mosaic items...
This was definitely one of the most interesting/obscure places I've visited in my short collection of travels!
After taking a look around we had to set up for the art class.
This is the cute little space in which we taught the art class. My mom did most of the teaching; I just had to go around and help people who were struggling or who had arrived late to the class and were a few steps behind.
Since the Academy is funded by a much larger organization, art classes are only $2 a person!
Near the end of class I looked up and discovered a mummy hanging in the eaves! Surprise lol!
After the class let out we packed up our belongings and headed for home! We stopped on the way back for Mexican food (which I love sooooo much!) and discussed our opinions of how the day went.
The evening ended with my family eating some ice cream and watching Agents of Shield together. I also got this picture of Buzz being utterly relaxed as my sister plays with his feet. He's so cute!!
It was a wonderful day filled with lots of color and new experiences! :)
Hi my name is Emilee and these are my adventures as a young adult living in Milwaukee. Here I will share my experiences as I navigate through college. Thanks for stopping by!
