Today Ryan and I did a bit of everything.
We started off the morning by getting breakfast in the cafeteria. They were serving custom omelets and had a waffle bar! We loaded up on food and picnicked on the floor in my room. After eating we got the emulator working and played Mario Party! It was amazing even though I lost everything during the last turn. Stupid Princess Peach...
Our first adventure out of the dorm was to the Milwaukee Art Museum! The galleries are closed at the moment because one is being renovated and the other is transitioning, but we still had a good time walking around both in and outside the building!
The architect who designed the place is a genius...
The lobby's awesome blown glass art piece...
While looking through the big glass window we saw a ship out on the lake!!
Super zoom with special thanks to Ryan's high tech camera!
While perusing the great outdoors we saw a park on top of a parking garage and decided to visit it!
The art museum from a distance.
View from the Art Museum river walkway.
After the museum we went back to campus to find lunch. We found a cool sculpture on the way!
We visited a place called The Gasthaus for lunch. It's a sports bar located in the very basement (two floors below ground) of the student union. We ordered burgers, and I was very happy to see they had pickles chips (they weren't the best I've had though).
Picture time! Hey wait a minute.....!
After lunch we went to a Harvest Festival!
There was a beef cow show. The fair in my hometown only ever shows dairy cows so I was surprised at how fuzzy they all were! They looked like mythical creatures B)
We found some foliage sculptures of a horse and a sheep.
On our way to the next fair (which was confusingly inside of the Harvest Festival) we stopped to go on this terrifying ride. I do not like heights so I screamed the entire time!!
Next up: The Maker Fair! There was all sorts of cool technology!
There was a robot competition, magnetic fencing, light displays, an interactive pattern projection, a giant game system where each person stood on a button, flight simulations and much more! It was awesome!
Glowing shoes from inside the dark room.
After the Maker Fair we went and walked around the Third Ward in search of some dinner. We passed a lot of cool shops including a Japanese toy store and a yoga store! I will definitely return to explore at a time that they're open!
We decided to eat at a super hopping place called Benelux.
We talked about all sorts of marvelous things including how the other would rule to world and how life would work out if we were the opposite genders! It was very stimulating conversation!
Although we had burgers for lunch we were really hungry and had them again for dinner. I got a jalapeno burger (which I managed to eat without crying!) with sweet potato fries. Nom!
After eating we went back to the dorms and played Mario Party 3 until the early hours.
It was a long and colorful day filled with a little bit of everything!
