My cousin's wedding wasn't until 2pm, so my family decided to go out and explore the Sturgeon Bar area. But first a super sister selfie!!
We found a small art fair happening in the lovely downtown area (so many art fairs lately)!
My cousin is a big beer drinker, so when we found this at an antique shop we thought of him...
After our trip downtown we went to a place called Sunset Park. It was so beautiful...
I could have stayed at that park for hours, but we had to go get food before the ceremony. We chose to go to a place called Fatzo's Subs. I didn't really want to go to a place with the word fat in the title, but we'd seen so many since arriving in the penninsula and no one else was bothered by it! There was Fat Louie's Pizza, Fat Boyz, Fatzo's Subs....
Just to be safe though, I ordered a sandwich called Heart Healthy Turkey Club that had a low calorie sticker next to it.
The sky was beautiful; the rainy mess from the night before disappeared just in time for the wedding!
We ate our sandwiches on the back patio of the lodge.
The actual lodge:
After that it was time to get ready for the wedding! We all got our fancy clothes on and took off for the park at which the ceremony was being held. What a scenic spot for a wedding...
Ryan met up with my family and we all took our seats along the shore. I loved the itinerary.
The ceremony was short and sweet (about 20 minutes) and I cried almost the entire way through. I'm a sucker for happy moments and have always shown them best by crying...
After the ceremony Ryan and I explored the area.
While waiting for the reception we went to a soft serve ice cream bar and found yet ANOTHER art festival to explore! There is so much going on everywhere!
My ice cream flavors were Jamochoa, Salted Caramel Pretzel, and Tahitian Vanilla topped with cookie dough bites, chocolate cookie dough, Reece's, and blueberry bobas! It was so yummy!
We ate it on the water's edge in our fancy clothes. We even got to see the drawbridge go up! When it did I expected some giant boat to pass underneath, but it was just a tiny sailboat with a really really long pole! Huh...
That evening 5:30 was reception time. For dinner there was a tri tip steak bar, kids bar, and pasta bar with cherry cobbler and ice cream for dessert. I went through the pastabilities bar!
Then it was time to paaaarrrtaay! They did all the first dances and then the guests were allowed to join in. The bride and groom had an almost all rock playlist so it was a blast to dance to! I'm not a good dancer but I do put everything I've got into it! My family laughed at all my dance moves but it was so much fun! I love dancing!!
This morning we packed up all our bags and went out to breakfast before I got dropped back off in Milwaukee. We went to a place called Wanda Jean's and I had pancakes for the first time in weeks! They made an awkward smiley face on them :)
After breakfast I said farewell to Ryan and then my family took me back to my dorm. I got my sister registered as a guest so she can come visit me overnight sometime, and then they all headed back to town. I enjoyed seeing them a lot this weekend.
Here's to a good week!
Hi my name is Emilee and these are my adventures as a young adult living in Milwaukee. Here I will share my experiences as I navigate through college. Thanks for stopping by!
